ABOUT THE FIND ENGINE

Need to find an article? The find engine lets you search magazine and newspaper articles, encyclopedias, and other online reference works. Just type in your search term and "Go." To find complete articles, check the "Full-text articles only" option on the next screen and hit "Go" again. Stop Searching. Start Finding.

Electronic Resources / Research Databases / Reference Databases / Susbscription Databases
are all names for the same thing, online versions of:

• magazines • articles • journals • encyclopedias
• newspapers • reports • photos • dictionaries
• pamphlets • charts • maps • graphs

The find engine
searches them all for you.

Free websites can be wonderful information sources, but they can also contain information that is one-sided, out-of-date or just plain wrong. The library chosen these databases for the value of their content and the reputation of the companies behind them. Every article, essay, report or fact has been chosen and checked by professional editors. Many databases are based on long-standing, well-respected reference works. Many others are made up of articles from established periodicals. And, while websites may be here today and gone tomorrow, databases endure.

And The find engine doesn't limit you to a 'one-size-fits-all' search. With The find engine, you can search all of our resources, or just search in one area. You wouldn't expect to find much about Tiger Woods in a geography book, and you don't have to search there with The find engine. Just search in the 'Sports and Recreation' group, to quickly find what you need!

Our library purchases access to these databases for you so you can benefit from their resources without paying any fees. Our agreements with these Database providers generally include free home access to our library card holders. To get information from the few databases that will not permit Home Use, you must be in one of our branch libraries.

Many of our databases let you print, email, or download articles that you find useful. Or you can use SerialsSolutions to browse through the online journals and magazines we have purchased for your online use.
