Adult Book Discussion
Join us for a friendly and lively discussion of Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay. Paris: July, 1942 -- Ten year old Sarah is arrested with her family by the French police in the Vel' d'Hiv roundup. Just before the police come, she locks her brother up in a hidden cupboard in the family's apartment, thinking she will be back within a few hours to release him.
The author offers a compelling portrait of France under occupation and reveals the taboos and silence that surround this painful episode.
The Brook Park Branch, serving a community of 21,218 residents, is located next to the City Hall complex at the corner of Engle Road and Sylvia Drive. Interstates 71 and 480 are just minutes away. An interior renovation was completed in 1996 resulting in updated furnishings and a tasteful, pleasant color scheme. The single-story building houses approximately 85,000 books and 19,000 audio-visual materials. It serves as a depository for the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency regarding such information as hazardous waste clean-up at NASA John Glenn Research Center and at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.
